Polaroid Theme – Customizing the Header

  • Good afternoon,

I am hoping that someone will be able to assist me on a few things for the Polaroid Theme for WordPress. I am trying to put together a site and have found that I have a need to customize the header. The site I am designing is http://www.nelke-sommerdijk.com.

Basically, I see that the polaroid theme does not have a menu bar, and instead lists all pages under ‘pages’in the footer menu. I have changed the editor a bit so that I can customise it the way i want, but have run into some issues. I have moved the footer location on the homepage so that it appears higher, above the polaroid shots. On the other pages, it remains in its original position.

    1. I want clean up the footer so that there is less white space between the headings.
    2. I want to link the headings to their approriate pages (Ex: Biography, Contacts, Links), but I don’t know how to accomplish this.
    3. When using a featured image for teh posts which appear on the homepage polaroids, the photos automatically resize and are stretched and narrow – how can i avoid this.
    4. I would like to also place text under the gallery images.

If anyone can help with these questions i would very much appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance,

    Alizia

First off, the changes you made to the home page have created a bunch of mark-up errors — which may be problematic now and/or later. See this:

    http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fnelke-sommerdijk.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

Because those kinds of errors can affect the layout and appearance of the page, it’s useless to make other changes until you’ve fixed the errors…

Hi Thanks for the feedback, would you be able to help me further?

How then can i set the editor back to the default? After that, how can I easily make a menu bar that has the menu items:

Works > sub menu extensions with the list of works.
    Video
    Biography
    Contact
    Links

I also want to delete the date from the first post (on the polaroid image), is that possible?

    Help help

my categories are all open at first no problem you had to click on example pages to see the pages but now all is visable i want it the old way who can help me
    see ourfamily.uphero.com and you’ll understand.

Hi Solfasila, not sure if you had the same problem as me, but its preferable to start a new thread as I am still waiting for a response on my questions. WPyogi, do you have any suggestions for me? Thanks!!!
