• Podpress player will show in excerpts, but not in the post content. Adding [display_podcast] doesn’t work either. I use Arras Theme, and everything worked fine until I upgraded podpress.

Podpress player will show in excerpts, but not in the post content.

Is the download link and the other elements which are typically displayed below the player also not visible in posts?
Which web browser did you use? Safari, Chrome, IE9 or Firefox?

Go to the general settings page of podPress. Does the section “System Information” include any hint of a version conflict?

I would like to take a look at your blog myself. Could you post the URL to your blog?

Okay, I can reproduce the problem. Please, try the Development Version. It includes a bug fix.

    Thanks for the report!

Sorry, I thought I had put my site in my post. http://www.classicgamerbrain.com

I tried the development version, but it didn’t fix the issue.

Thank you for the quick replies!

So… to further answer… All elements of podpress don’t show in the post. Any changes made in the podpress settings are reflected in excerpts, but nothing allows podpress to show in the posts. I also tested firefox and IE, and it still doesn’t show. Also, I deleted podpress manually and reinstalled the development version manually again. Still didn’t work, and no sign of a version conflict.

tested mine in ff, chrome, and IE same results.

Will revert back to v 8.8.10.4 until resolved. Thanks,

@franky1029: Thank you for the further answers.
@t: Thank you for your report too. (If roll-back to 8.8.10.4 then check whether or not your RSS feeds are valid. if they are not valid use 8.8.10.2)

I know that it this particular problem is not a browser issue. It has something to do with the way podPress adds its elements to posts and excerpts.

But it is a little bit surprising for me that 8.8.10.7 beta 3 does not fix the problem while 8.8.10.4 does it.
But 8.8.10.7 beta 3 is not the final version. I’m working on it.

podPress 8.8.10.7 beta 4 is now the Development Version.

I have tested this version with the Arras theme and it seems to work. The players are visible at the front page which shows excerpts and they are also visible on the single post view.

Still no luck. Perhaps there is something wrong with my theme. I’ll see if I can look into that some more.

I am having the same problem. Should I try the development version or go back a version?

    http://edreach.us/2011/05/16/edceptional-show-09/

Quick question : to install the development version, can I use the automatic uploader or do I have to go into my directory?

    Daniel

I tried the Dev version beta 4, and then downgraded to 8.8.10.5 .

    Both of them didn’t work.

    Help!!!

8.8.10.4 should work until the issue is resolved.

@franky1029: I have tested with the default settings of the Arras Theme and after some modifications the player appeared again in the excerpts in the “Featured Stories” section and the automatically changing display of these Featured Stories. Further the player appears in the single post views. The player does not appear in the category views. In a way, it is like on your website.
Maybe I don’t understand what is not working. Please, tell me (again) what is not working with 8.8.10.7 beta 4.

@drezac: Daniel, please describe the problem which exists with beta 4 on your page. It is possible that it is not the same as on the page of franky1029. Check whether the problem is connected to the usage of a certain web browser (Does work in Firefox and in Safari or Chrome?). Notice: If roll-back to 8.8.10.4 then check whether or not your RSS feeds are valid. If they are not valid use 8.8.10.2.
Furthermore please do not use a plugin to install the Development Version. Use FTP to upload at least the .php and .css files from the main folder and the JS sub folder.

@franky1029: I have compared the behaviour of 8.8.10.5 and 8.8.10.7 beta 4 once again and while 8.8.10.5 does not show the player elements in the single post view, 8.8.10.7 beta 4 does it. In post in which I use the [display_podcast] place holder 8.8.10.5 does not replace it and shows no player. 8.8.10.7 behaves differently and replace the place holder with the player and the link elements below it.
This reproducible and that is why I think that we are talking not about the same problem.
Furthermore I have written earlier that I was surprise that this other beta version showed no difference. I was surprised because in that earlier beta version I have reversed the changes in the function which inserts the podPress elements into the posts and excerpts so that it looked like the function in 8.8.10.2. It should have worked again.
8.8.10.7 beta 4 uses now a different approach to solve this and a different problem which appeared with 8.8.10.2 e.g. in the Kubrick theme (the old default theme). But it shows also the podPress elements in the single post view.
Are you using a cache plugin or something else what could prevent modification from showing up immediately?
Or do the podPress elements appear (with 8.8.10.7 beta 4) in the single post view in your blog too and something else is not working?
