    Hi,

Will the plugin update the title of my post after imported if I ever change it on the episode feed? Meaning there is a sync in between. Or will it import it again or leave the post as it is when it first was imported? How does this work? Thanks

    Hi @inovapix,

Thanks for using our plugin and for reaching out!

No – the plugin doesn’t update posts from the feed (assuming they would already imported before or existed already before using the plugin)

It will (probably) not import the same episode twice, since we use the unique GUID to identify the episodes.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions!

Thanks for your prompt reply. Another quick question:

Is it possible do disable the import of the description and just import the podcast episode?

I have read here in another post thread same question, but you stated it would be considered for future releases. Is it available or is there a workaround for the time being (without the need to erase the description from feed source, because it is used for the distribution in other services)?

You can basically limit the content length to 0 by using the “Truncate Post Content” which is located in the Advanced Option.

This will skip the import of shownotes/content from your episodes.

    Hi again!

I tried to limit the content length to 0 using the Truncate Post Content as per instructions, still the description keeps importing.

Please let me know if I need to do something else. Thanks

That’s odd, I’ll look into this.
When you set it to 1 instead of 0, does it work for you and only displaying one character?

    (@inovapix)

If I set 1 it only displays one character. But with 0 it brings all the description still.

Oh I see. Looks like a minor bug. We’ll patch that in the next update!
Meanwhile you can set it to 1 and remove the rest manually if needed.

Thanks for that! Do you have an estimate just to check on it, since your plugin is vital for our website config.

I understand we will have to remove the rest manually, but it is not best approach for us; because it involves another step for the publisher/editor of the podcast.

Have you thought on doing some sync with the RSS Feed? Is it posible? Meaning any change on title or if episode is deleted, this is also reflected on the site?

    (@secondlinethemes)

We don’t have a timeline on it, but we’ll fix this in the next plugin update.

We may also add in the future an option to sync posts from the feed and override existing posts.

By any chance, do you offer custom development service and maybe we can support the speed of features for everyone? I have not found another plugin that works like yours and just needs these fixes/features to be the best and only.

    Hi @inovapix,

Please feel free to reach out to us over email and send the requirements.
We’d be happy to send more info via email.

I’d also be interested in having an update made to the RSS feed have previously imported podcast episodes be updated to match. This behavior could be enabled for a podcast via a checkmark as some might want the speed of not checking and/or updating past content while others may always want the RSS feed to be synced with the site’s content at all times. WP All Import offers something similar to this where you can have it always just add or have it do more of a sync operation (title, description, link to audio file, publication date, etc… pretty much what’s done when it’s created while then just doing a re-implement as an update procedure.)

Similarly, some podcasts have every episode in their RSS feed while the removal of a podcast episode was intentional so it should then also be removed from the site as well. This could also be another checkbox where some might want the content to be synced as mentioned above while not wanting podcasts to be deleted if not in the feed anymore (vice-versa, neither, or both [both update data & delete if no longer in the feed is what I’m currently looking/hoping for.])

Since this is now back to being somewhat of an open request to add this feature (no longer simply asking if it exists)… should it be marked as not resolved anymore and/or created as a separate topic specifically asking for this feature to be added?

@kzeni – We added this feature to the roadmap. (optional sync for existing posts from the feed)

We will not add an optional delete checkbox at this point, this is a bit more risky and in most cases won’t be very helpful.

    I appreciate the update!

I don’t want to have the deletion option disregarded, though. I think the checkbox could make it clear that the user selecting that checkbox understands the risk while it then definitely has a use-case. I think we have at least two users here looking to effectively make their site match what’s currently in a given RSS feed at all times (both by updating data & deleting podcasts no longer in the feed in addition to adding new episodes.)

Thanks again for the quick response.

I agree it can definitely be helpful, but as mentioned, there’s some risk involved.
If your feed has downtime, is limited to a certain number of episodes, or accidentally remove an episode, it would affect your live site.

Of course – this would have to be behind a big, red “I understand the risk” button, but I’m trying to determine if it’d sufficiently help. Will discuss that with the team and consider adding this into a future update.
