Support » Plugin: Seriously Simple Podcasting » Podcast Feed gives 404 error, but shouldn’t

  • So I am trying to submit my podcast feed to some sites. It seems to work from some (My iTunes feed wouldn’t then did validate but I am waiting for approval)

On Player.FM it is saying the feed is not there

On Pocketcasts it does the same and gives it a 404 error.

Yesterday we went through all the settings to match my other podcast and they are the same.

We also did the permalinks and all that and found the php error and fixed that. It still however is not working despite the feed being there both inside and outside of our network.

I am confused as to what I am doing wrong.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • As an addition:

The feed seems to be validating here, but just not to any podcast site!

HI there. Have you run any plugin or theme conflicts on the site to see if that could be adversely affecting things? Since it does validate in Cast Feed Validator and the feed is viewable, etc. I’m inclined to think it’s something else injecting bits into the feed, or something similar. Be interested to see what it would look like on a pretty neutral install.

I’m not the admin of the site (I have the rights but it’s not my place to take anything offline or down)

How do you run plugin or theme conflicts? I don’t think we have too much on the site that should cause an issue.

In iTunes connect it just gave me this error
Podcast artwork must be between 1400 x 1400 and 3000 x 3000 pixels, JPG or PNG, in RGB color space, and hosted on a server that allows HTTP head requests

It was 1400×1400 but made it 3000×3000 anyway.

Now it has come back with
Can’t download episodes from your feed.

Although they appear in the bottom of the validate box.

Now it says Can’t read your feed.

I’m just confused as to what is wrong!

As an extra question, if I uninstall the plugin and reinstall it, I want to have it forget all settings and start again and see if that helps.

So I have deleted the podcast plugin and was going to start again.
However when you try to go to now it auto redirects you to a glossary post about Podcasts, could this be a cause of the issue? Some feed sites are getting redirected even though the old link seemed to work?

We uninstalled the plugin and put it back on, but it saved all the settings so wasn’t like it had been uninstalled and now it won’t validate at all despite still going the feed here

    I’m so confused….

    Hi there

So sorry for only getting back to you now on this.

I’ve run your feed through a validator and the only issue that seems to come up for the above feed URL is that the artwork is 643kb, while iTunes prefers it to be 512kb or less.

Please try making the artwork smaller in terms of file size and let me know if this helps at all?

We found that one of our servers was having issue with external traffic, so once we fixed that the feed was fine.

    Thanks for the help
