PNGs in themes with IE?

I recently modified the theme to have a png icon at the top. When this was done, it looks fantastic in FF, but for some reason, the way IE is rendering the PNG it’s causing a big giant space equal the height of the menu on the side.
Is this something that can be edited in the CSS file or somewhere else in the theme to fix?
