Support » Fixing WordPress » PNG images distorted upon upload

  • Out of nowhere, when I upload PNG images now, they come out distorted, cut in half/or the images don’t full display. Even when I click “Edit” on the imagge, there’s nothing there.

    I’ve deactivated all plugins, switched themes, and there’s still the same problem. Some JPG images as well get distorted, the only images that are never distorted are JPEG. The distortion happens upon upload. Any idea what might be causing this?

  • Hi @sevenkader,

    Have you checked with your hosting provider if they have any automatic server side optimisation scripts or features?

    Does it matter whether you upload your media files to the media library direct from /wp-admin or by the ‘Add Media’ button on the post/page editor?

    Kind Regards,
    Tim

    @tneville It doesn’t matter where I upload it.

    I don’t believe I do. I’ve been using wordpress for almost a year now with this site and these configurations. It started doing this yesterday, I didn’t make any server side changes. And this is upon upload,

    @sevenkader,

    How odd. It’s still worth checking with your hosting provider if you’ve not already, that’s weird. The fact that you’ve tried deactivating all plugins and changing themes already suggests that it’s likely a problem with the server itself.

    Kind Regards,
    Tim
