    Ok, results of our investigations:

    – We need to use png because jpeg creates white backgrounds which don’t look good (on dark background pages)

    – We compressed the icons with the tool https://shortpixel.com/

    – The uploaded icons are 100×100 in size so that users who want them larger (than 60×60) can use them too

    – You can upload your own custom icons (e.g. under question 4, replacing the default icons) in smaller format and then they are smaller in size

    All of these results make sense.

    We will try to upload our own compressed images and see if we can’t resolve our issues.
