  • I have been looking around the Plugin Directory, Developer section, but can’t see this point covered.

I am developing a plugin, which will allow other users with their own blogs, to interact with my sites. That makes it quite a narrow audience.

Will I be able to add this plugin to the Plugin Directory, or is there some other path to follow.

  • I don’t feel that that page answers my specific question.

Is a very niche plugin acceptable?

Plugin Submission and Promotion > Submitting to the WordPress Plugin Directory > “For more details about submitting your plugin to the Directory see the about page

The details on the about page should be a bit more specific on the requirements for acceptance into the Plugin Directory, but if you just keep following the links, there is additional information in Detailed Plugin Guidelines.

Thanks for the links. I had already seen those pages, but I didn’t find anything. Perhaps that’s because the restrictions don’t exist, although I had read somewhere that they did.

I think that I am just going to have to give it a try and see.

It’s just that I haven’t seen anything else which is so “niche”, and I didn’t want to spend time going in the wrong direction.

If you are looking for something that specifically states; “no niche or limited interest plugins allowed”, I don’t believe you will find it.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that whether your plugin appeals to the interests of only 30 people or to 30,000 people, as long as it meets the guidelines for inclusion in the plugin directory, your contribution would be both welcomed and encouraged.

Closer 30 to start with, but I am going to go for it…

Mainly because of user installation and upgrading. KISS rules!
