Plugins that work on multi-site

Is there a way to see if a plugin supports multi-site? I am considering moving my current wordpress sites to a WordPress network and Step 9 in this link http://codex.wordpress.org/Migrating_Multiple_Blogs_into_WordPress_3.0_Multisite says to “check that your plugins will work in the network installation”. How is this done?
