I’m on a cheap shared hosting plan, and whenever I have this plugin activated, my hosting company would put my website on error 503. After checking, it says I’ve went past my plan’s limit on active processes.

That being said, what does Defender require in a server for it to work properly?

    Hello @anonmeimei !

    Hope you’re doing well today!

Defender doesn’t have any specified requirements to run besides the ones that are default for WordPress to work.

However, there are some features in the plugin that may cause a temporary increase in resource usage, such as the Malware Scanning feature. This is because Defender will go through the files of the site and it can potentially require additional PHP processes to run as well as it will have to read the files and scan them which will require some additional RAM.

Please let us know if there is any specific limit that was passed in this case – if needed you may want to contact your hosting support to inquire about the details. We’ll see if there’s anything we can do to help in this case.

    Kind regards,
    Pawel
