 * After migrating from Groups 1.13.1 to 2.3.0 access to /wp-admin/plugins.php was
denied for my user account with role Administrator. Creating a group “Administrators”,
adding all capabilities to it and assigning it to the user did not help. The
plugins page is not displayed because of insufficient permissions. So I went
   back to version 1.13.1.

 * Hi,
 * That’s very odd, do you have any other plugin installed that provides features
related to user roles and capabilities? Are you aware of any changes made to
   the administrator role?

 * PS : There is a button used to refresh capabilities as shown on [http://docs.itthinx.com/document/groups/setup/capabilities/](http://docs.itthinx.com/document/groups/setup/capabilities/)–
it could be interesting to see if there are any missing capabilities

 * Hi, in the meantime I found out that the problem also occurs when I just deactivate
Groups. There’s no other plugin in my WordPress installation related to permissions(
user roles, capabilities). Only one capability currently is used with Groups:‘
view_private_galleries’, to restrict access to some articles (photo galleries)
to members of the groups ‘Friends’ and ‘Family’. It seems that somehow the user
role ‘Administrator’ looses WordPress-built-in capabilities when the currently
installed version of Groups is deactivated or removed.

 * Ok thanks for that. If this happens when you deactivate Groups, then it must
be an issue with the permissions of your user account or the administrator role.
This would not be related to Groups itself.
 * My guess is that the administrator role is missing `read_private_galleries` or
some plugins removes it from that role. Maybe if you create a group and assign
the `read_private_galleries` capability to it and add your user account to that
group it would help? Anyhow, I’d recommend you figure out what removes this capability
   from the very administrator role.
