    Hello,

I am having issues installing plugins upon installing and activating a new theme. When I attempt to install the required plugins, I receive this error message:

Download failed. A valid URL was not provided.

This has happened with two different themes now, on two different websites, both running WordPress 4.5.1

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

how did you try to install the plugins and themes? Please walk me through the steps.

I downloaded the theme from Themeforest, went to my WordPress dashboard and selected the themes tab. I uploaded the zip file of the theme through the WordPress dashboard, and tied to install the plugins when prompted.

I have always uploaded themes this way, but perhaps in one of the recent updates there’s a newer method that’s better?

you got an error about downloading when uploading? Huh? I don’t understand. Did you upload just the inner zip file?

Sometimes you need to unzip what you downloaded and see if there is another zip file in that folder with the same name. That would be the one you upload.

You may be trying to upload the package zip. Some of Themeforest’s plugins and themes download as a package that also have documentation in them.

Strange, right? I’ve never had this issue before!

I unzipped the original zip file I uploaded, but didn’t find another zip file inside. The documentation is in a separate folder.

    What plugin is it?

It’s the pre-packaged plugins for the Volar theme by Freshface.

    Volar Theme Core Plugin
    Fresh Custom Code
    Fresh File Editor

I’ve tried to contact the theme developer but am having trouble getting in touch with them. As I get the same exact error message with required plugins on a completely different theme – the Esta theme by Torbara – I’m thinking that it must be either a WordPress issue or a hosting issue.

Sorry for the delay. In the comments on Themeforest for Volar theme by Freshface, it says

I just issued new version of Volar, where this should be fixed. Please update from WP Admin -> Updates

This is from 22 days ago.

The question asked was similar to yours about the 3 required plugins. There are a few and the reply is the same.

    Hope that helps.

Just had an email from them with an update, re-installed the theme with the new version and it works perfectly now.

Thanks for the heads up! 🙂

    My Pleasure!
