# Plugins not installing

 * I am new to WordPress.org. One of the main reasons for migration from WordPress.
   com is plugins. Sadly, I cannot install any plugins using both available options:
   –**
   Add New**: Downnloading install package | Unpacking the package | Could not create
   directory | Return to Plugin Installer – **Upload .Zip file**: The uploaded file
   could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2014/02.
 * I tried uploading at least 2 plugins – including Google XML Sitemap and Jetpack–
   using the 2 options above without success. Thus, I concluded that the problem
   is not with the plugins.
 * I looked through existing forum topics but I could not find this title. The link
   to my site is enitiate.co.za/en/
 * Hoping someone will help 🙂

 * It’s possible that WordPress does not have rights to create directories on your
   server.
 * If you have access to your site structure, make sure that both your UPLOADS and
   PLUGINS directory permissions are set to 755 (rwxr-xr-x).

 * Hi Senff. I did exactly that, but no luck. As indicated, the response for **.
   zip upload** was that _uploaded file could not be moved, while the **Add New **
   option ends with _message: _Downloading install package | Unpacking the package
   | Could not create directory | Return to Plugin Installer_.

 * What if you change them to 777 (rwxrwxrwx)? Still the same problem?
 * Are the file permissions actually changed? Make sure you double-check that — 
   I’ve seen situations where I’d change the permissions, it said it was all good
   but then when I checked, they were still set to r–r–r–.

 * I am unfortunately not a developer, nor do I understand the language. As a result,
   I would not know where to start looking to change to 777 🙁

 * You can change that with Filezilla. Rightclick on the wp-content folder in the
   list there should be something about the rights. In mine (dutch version) it’s
   the last option.
 * Then make sure writing is checked everywhere.

 * Thanks for all the responses. I am not sorted yet, but it looks like I need to
   engage a developer on my side first.

 * I recognize the challenge that file permission changes could pose — getting a
   developer may help.
