Plugins for building Pages

    I need some advice with regards to Plugins for building pages;

    I have been using WPBakery Visual Composer and have loved it. However it is a bit heavy and my friends discourage using it. I started using Shortcodes Ultimate , It is light but not as easy to use a WPBakery . Also for a little more functionality to equate to WPBakery , it wants me to buy the extras. I am new into this business and would not like to invest unless i start making a bit of cash. I want your sincere , professional advice on what to do?
    Which plugin do you recommend and if you have an alternative free plugin , please suggest.
