Support » Fixing WordPress » Plugins folder in admin is empty after upgrade

  • I just upgraded to version 3.9.1 and the plugins admin panel says “You do not appear to have any plugins available at this time.” The folder with all the plugins is there when I look at the files on the server, it’s just not rendering in the wordpress interface.

I tried resetting it by renaming the plugins folder, logging in to wordpress and then renaming it again.

    Any ideas?

Here’s the site. It uses a child theme.

  • I’ve heard of this happening with some plugins that weren’t compatible with the new version of WordPress you installed.

If it were me, what I would try is going into the /wp-content/plugins folder and renaming all of them by adding “-test” to the end of the folder name or something like it, then log into the admin panel and rename each plugin one at a time to the original folder name, refreshing the Installed Plugins Page in WP admin each time to see what shows up. In that way, you may be able to identify the the culprit.

If that fails to identify a problem plugin, you can reinstall the plugins one at a time to get them back.
