[Plugin: Yet Another Related Posts Plugin] YARPP error message - please help! (12 posts)

    Hi everyone,

When I activate the YARPP plugin, I get the following error message:

The plugin generated 988 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.

Can someone please explain to me what is causing this error? It would also be nice if someone also explained how to fix this issue?

    Thanks,
    Gordon

Hi all. This is a known issue that I have been unable to reproduce (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/405323?replies=2 ). For many people the messages disappear once they try deactivating and reactivating... does that work for you?

I was able to reproduce this and believe I've fixed it. If you could try out this new beta, it would be much appreciated:

    Hi mitchoyoshitaka,

I only receive the error when I first activate the plugin. I dont even bother deactivating and reactivating the plugin. Because after it's been activated it seems to be working as it should (with no further errors). Not exactly sure why it generates the errors in the first place.

Thanks for the update! I will give the update a try.

    Thanks,
    Gordon

@spiritedleader - please try deactivating and activating again with the new version... that'll be a good test of whether you get that message or not. It only happens on activation, and only on some machines.

@spiritedleader hmm... I'm really sorry to hear that.

I was able to figure out the root of the problem, at least as it manifests itself on one of my WP installs, and fixed it. Perhaps there's an additional problem. :/

If anyone else can check it out, I would appreciate it.

Again, I'd appreciate feedback from anyone else.

Hm... All I can say is that I got the same mistake, but the plugin seems to be working just fine so I didn't care :)

If I deactivate and activate again it doesn't generate the error.

    @chadrew - you're using YARPP 3.1.9?
