I just upgrade to YARPP 3.4 and have a problem. All the images for related are from my latest post. I haven’t publish anything else, so I don’t know if it uses the latest post or it just picked the latest post image available when I upgrade.
I use a template and I have specified a custom image for the posts that does not have one.
Before all images where correct and if a post does not have image, the specified one showed up.
Now the complete site shows the image of my latest post.
How can I fix this ?
@chadrew, thanks, that makes sense that some templates would get broken by the lack of global access to $post. Here’s 3.4.1 beta 1 which adds back the global $post reference:
Just tried the 3.4.1b1.zip version. Didn’t work for me either.
I think I resolved the issue with
related_posts(). Please try this:
@johnnyngn what exactly is the problem you’re having?
I am getting the same problem. The related posts stayed the same with every post. I’ll try the new one.
Thanks Mitcho. The 3.4.1b2.zip works great. Everything is good now.
Fantastic, mitcho… This version solved all problems for me.
Fantastic! Waiting for just a few more reports and then I will push this as 3.4.1.
Thank you all for your quick bug reports and cooperation!
Mitch – 3.4.1b2 corrects the problem on my blog for not showing the same four posts, but it seems like half the posts that formerly had related posts are reporting ‘no related posts’ now (with custom and standard settings). Also, when using my custom.php the thumbnails in the posts are no longer working, which worked fine in the previous version. Any tips?
It took about 15 minutes for the new version to pickup the related posts more accurately again. Everything is more accurate now.
Just tried the 3.3.3 version. It is somehow more accurate in showing the related posts than the latest version. ???
Ran a few tests. The YARP 3.3.3 version is accurate to the teeth, while the latest version is a “hit and miss” on displaying related posts.
johnnyngn – I agree. I am sticking with 3.3.3 for now.
@anothertexasfamily can you send me the custom template you’re using? I’d like to resolve the thumbnail issue.
@johnnyngn Are you getting false negatives or false positives? I.e., new related posts which aren’t actually related, or missing related posts which showed up with 3.3.3? Note that it’s possible that results aren’t *exactly* the same across the versions, but I don’t have any immediate idea why they would be different.
I’d appreciate it if you try changing some of the “relatedness” options in YARPP 3.4 which will clear the cache and force things to recompute.
