[Plugin: XML & Google News Sitemap Feeds] Are regular Sitemap and News Sitemap different? (4 posts)

    My site is alpinezone.com.

I have been having issues with Google News not picking up all my news articles (alpinezone.com/news). I don't believe I had a sitemap in place before.

I installed the plugin, but I only see the main sitemap at alpinezone.com/sitemap.xml

Is there a different URL for the News sitemap? Also; is there a way to ensure that only posts with the category NEWS get onto the News sitemap?

Yes, the news sitemap can be found on /sitemap-news.xml and needs to be submitted to Google News seperately.

But I'm not sure you are talking about Google News service... Do you mean your latest posts just do not get indexed quickly? You might need to take a look at your static robots.txt file. The last line:

    Disallow: /logs/sitemap: http://www.alpinezone.com/sitemap.xml

needs to be split over two lines:

    Disallow: /logs/
    Sitemap: http://www.alpinezone.com/sitemap.xml

Other than that, I can only recommend opening a Google Webmaster Tools account and submitting your sitemap there.

    Thanks for the post RavanH,

Yes I am talking about Google News Sitemap. My News on Alpinezone has been syndicated to Google News since 2005. However, not all of my posts are showing up on Google News, and I think it's because my URL's no longer have #'s in them as of the redesign. So I wanted to use the sitemap to ensure that I was getting News published.

I updated Robots.txt .... I do see the news sitemap now as well. Do I need to put in a separate sitemap in Robots.txt for news?
