  • Question: Does Xcloner need the plugin files to run or can it run with the info stored in the WP database?

    Reason for question:
We installed Xcloner on a few test servers (don’t ask, it was a mess) while building our new site. We setup backups to go to S3. It started sending hundreds of small files instead of one zip, so we decided to uninstall (we might have missed one server) from all test servers. However, to this day, we are still getting bombarded with hundreds of small files to the bucket on S3.

It so happens that we no longer have access to the one server that we are not sure if we uninstalled or not. However, before releasing access to that server we deleted all files, but not the WP database. So we figure the bombardment must be coming from that.

Just want to know if that is possible and if you might have any suggestions (besides contacting the old host).

Are you sure the files get uploaded by XCloner? Cause XCloner is only setup to send backup archives( .tar or .tgz files), if you see other files than those being sent, it’s probably not XCloner doing this.

And yes, XCloner needs it’s plugin files to run, it does not store anything in the database.
