Ok, are not my business, but I read a bit of code and it’s the same of ManageWP Worker plugin by Prelovac, only changed copyrights.
Are you sure that GPLs license allow this?
Of course you can fork it, but until there is code written and copyrighted by another developer, need at least leave intact his copyright mentions…

  • @macitaly: If you are concerned about (what sounds like GNU or) GPL consult an attorney. That is the bottom line on that one. Trying forum based legal questions on a codex or development site you are going to get a lot of garbage/ignorant responses.

The authors of this plugin make client/server apps. Like many client/server apps the client is free (or under a separate license) than the server application. In this specific case the server application isn’t even an “own-able” application but a SaaS.

Or… Send an email to plugins AT wordpress.org and bring it to their attention.

    Hi all,
@ cheney: I don’t have clear why you attend to this discussion that is so old, may be have your reasons..
FYI when this plugin has been released, there where a description exactly like the original plugin and the plugin itself was the same, I compared them, so releasing it to the community only changing name was not correct.
After this post, the original plugin author contacted me saying that who published the copied plugin was a client of him and that what he did was an error, in fact, past some days, he changed the description of the plugin specifying that was only for internal testing purposes, as you can read now.
Said this, I don’t understand why you want teach to ppl how to behave, hope that is not only to share your link.

@ Jan: yes, you’re right but for what create a landslide from a little stone? 🙂 was only a misunderstanding and a mistake, not license infringement, so…

I totally missed the fact that this was a resurrected thread. I don’t get that either, it’s best to let sleeping dogs lie. And I’m not looking to make a mountain out of a molehill.

    Nuts. Ran out idioms. 🙂

But when in doubt regarding any hosted plugins here, consult the Powers that Be. Or you know, just shoot that email address a quick note.

I know this is an old thread but as far as I am aware everything is in order (except for not fully paying me). I was the coder behind WPZeus and worked with advice from Prelovac during development who also assisted when required.

but I am unsure if it fits WordPress’s GPL agreement as has been mentioned it is upto the Powers that Be.

The advice isn’t new. When there is a hosted plugin related question (and sorry, but this is not making a big deal of anything) try the following.

Or… Send an email to plugins AT wordpress.org and bring it to their attention.

If there is an issue with the licensing of that plugin (i.e. it’s not GPL) then it will get dealt with. If there really is no issue license wise then it wont.
