• Our site embeds several videos from our Vimeo account, and there are several problems that occur with our mobile site (WPTouch 1.9.42), both on iPhone (4/4S/5) and Android (Galaxy S II).

    – A video that is embedded in a Page is too wide: it extends beyond the border of the mobile site. So you have to scroll over to see the whole video thumbnail.

    – A video embedded in a Post properly restricts the width of the video (on iPhone only, not Android). However it only really accomplishes this by cropping the width, so it cuts off the thumbnail image, and thus the thumbnail appears taller than it is wide. This is very unfortunate because we’re not seeing the whole thumbnail, and there are many times when this is quite necessary.

What needs to happen instead is that the video thumbnails should be completely resized to match the width of the screen, in the same way a featured image in a post gets resized.

  • Any page elements that use fixed dimensions will not, by definition, scale. Check your images and iframes to ensure that they are using flexible dimensions.

Also, the current version of WPtouch is v.1.9.5.3. Please update to ensure best compatibility.
