[Plugin: WPtouch iPhone Theme] View iphone version of blog in an iphone simulator?

  • The wptouch developer’s site seems to be down so I will post my question here.

I am setting up a wp site and need to be able to test the site without access to an iphone right now. There are a number of iphone simulators and testers but none seem to be able to display the wptouch iphone view. I can’t even know if the plugin is working or not. Anyone have any suggestions? Is there any code I can modify temporarily to be able to just see how it will look on an iphone?

Is the wptouch plugin compatible with the latest worpress 2.7?

  • Hi sorry, that our site was down, it’s up now 🙂

If you have a Mac, you can use the app iPhoney. If you have a PC download Safari for PC, and enable developer mode. Now you’ll be able to select the user agent of ‘iPhone’ in the developer’s menu, to spoof visiting sites from an iPhone.

Refresh your website with WPtouch activated, and you’ll see the theme in action. Make sure you narrow the browser window all the way to emulate the viewport of the phone.

Yes, WPtouch is compatible with WordPress 2.7 out of the box, and a new release (1.6) will be out shortly with official support for 2.7.
