• Hello,

This plugin is not working on a number of sites that I have.

It is an awesome idea and service however, it would be nice to see this plugin updated.

  • Hi

I’m experiencing exactly the same – in fact I can’t get it to work on any of my sites

    Doug,

Glad I’m not the only one.

I’m using a different plugin that supposedly works, however I’m not having a seperate issue in that my pingfm api is not working. Sent them a message but no response. Not sure why. Hopefully I can get this working.

    P.S.

WPingFM is an awesome plugin, too bad the developer has abandoned it.

Maybe we could get another developer to create one if this developer is no longer interested. Dunno about you but it’s so powerful that I’d happily pay for a plugin like this. Seems like a great new product opportunity for someone with the knowhow.

@matt – I too am having the same problem – even reset my API key and nothing gets through. I ran several tests on ping.fm yesterday – all good. Today? Their site is down. Ever since seesmic bought them the service seems to have gotten worse.

    What alternative plugin is there?

I tried installing the ‘CR Post to Ping.fm’ plugin as an alternative but that’s not working either. With that one you can do a test and when I did that I got a report back saying it had failed because the API key is suspended.

So I created another Ping.fm account, created another API key, tried again and got excatly the same result.

I contacted Seesmic Support over a week ago about it and they have not responded. But I did see a post on their site from about a month ago saying they are not allowing any new API keys for the time being so I guess that’s the issue. It would have been nice to get a reply though letting me know if/when this is going to change.

@bart Its unfortunate that we are having these issues, I wonder how many others are. Ping.fm used to work like a charm, frustrating to hear that things have gone downhill.

I send an @repy on Twitter to Seismic and heard back from someone but haven’t had the time to follow up with it. I’ll post on here if and when I get it resolved.

In the mean time I’m using the post2pingfm plugin but like Doug I cannot get my api to work as it has been suspended.

@doug I thought that the new api key restriction was limited to new api’s been issued to developers and not end users but I could be wrong.

@doug, I would be more than willing to get plugin developed or to even develop a service like ping.fm as I’m tired finding services like this and seeing them eventually not work or be abandoned.

Anyway, in the meantime, I’m using the networked blogs service and have my account posting on my FB Fan page and Profile as well as my Twitter Stream which are the major platforms I’m using but it would be nice to be able to post to the others.

Again, I’ll keep you posted on any updates from my end.

    Matt

    @doug and Matt –
Thank you both for your replies. I, too, thought the API suspension was for developers only.

I tried another plugin as well, PingPressFM, which purports to be the original but is no longer truly supported either. The setup was confusing – you have to be able to read the guys mind…

So, if I find anything that works I will let you know. I think I am going to talk to Lester Chan and my contact over ate ShareThis to see if either of them have anything in the works. I will let you know.
