Most likely cause here is a misconfiguration of either the WPBook application or the Facebook Application it tries to connect to.
What is set as your Site URL, Canvas URL, and Secure Canvas URL in your Facebook app?
On the “advanced” tab, do you have any “migrations” enabled?
Thank you for your quick reply. The settings are:
Site URL: https://www.frankentipps.de/blog/
Canvas URL: http://www.frankentipps.de/blog/
Secure Canvas URL: https://www.frankentipps.de/blog/
I changed nothing on the “advanced” tab besides disabling “Deprecate offline access” and “Enhanced Auth Dialog” (as suggested here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/wpbook-235-facebook-application-settings?replies=1)
Do you see any error here?
I don’t see anything immediate.
A few more questions while I investigate:
- Are you using any other Facebook related plugins, which might include other versions of the Facebook library?
- Do you have access to the PHP error log on the server to see if any errors are being thrown when you try to load the page inside Facebook?
On second glance, it does seem odd to me that you’ve defined the “Site URL” in https – can you change that to just plain http and see if that makes any difference?
Also, if you are logged in to Facebook as the “Developer” of app id 319872171403936 sometimes Facebook passes along more data in the view source of the page – can you see if there is any data there?
Hi John,
I am having the same issue as the OP.
Site URL: http://brands-online-outlet.com
Canvas URL: http://brands-online-outlet.com/
Secure Canvas URL: https://ssl.webpack.de/brands-online-outlet.com/
Deprecate offline access is disabled
Enhanced Auth Dialog is diabled
I have no other FB related plugins
I have no error msg in the error log file
Here is the source code of the FB error page
http://brands-online-outlet.com/facebook/source.txt
I appreciate you help!
Many thanks in advance
Sylvia
Hi John, hi Sylvia,
I finally managed to get it work.
My workaround was changing the redirect_uri manually in the address bar, from https%3A%2F%2Fapps.facebook.com%2F319872171403936%2F to http://www.frankentipps.de/blog/ in our case (if I remember right, I was just trying around and suddenly it worked).
Then I could grant all the required permissions – and it worked.
I hope this helps,
Best regards
Matthias
Hi John,
awesome, that did the trick 🙂
Thanks so much!
Best regards
Sylvia
@mdornhuber – thanks for sharing the fix.
Seems like somewhere along the way a variable is getting set to the Facebook url of the app (https://apps.facebook.com/appid/) rather than the url of the blog outside facebook.
I’ll have to investigate still why that is happening and how to properly fix it – but you’ve greatly shortened that investigation – thanks!
