Ok my application is not displaying anything at all after upgrading to 2.1 Beta. I followed the instructions in updating the information – however I cannot see anything when granting permission, and then also in the application now. I have not tested to see if posting to my wall/page is working…I’ll test now that. I would like to use this new versiona and test it, or you’re other one on wordpress for download now.

I’ve been using your plugin for the past couple of months but in a different way, instead of using what WPBook places for the canvas in my application, I’ve just ignored it and used my homepage and links as the canvas for my application. I’ve basically just made my pages width to be able to fit and work as a facebook application smoothly, and I prefer that style for now.

However your recent upgrades don’t allow me to bypass what WP Book creates as the canvas page anymore, it seems to override what I was doing before. Though I would like to play around with the setup a bit and how it is suppose to work, because I might prefer it in the end now that it allows videos and such, though I am not sure still.

So how do I get it working normally, and then how do I disable/enable it?

It just goes to a blank page in the app view…

Right now my current solution is enable WP book only to publish to my wall/profile, then disable it so the application view works and displays something….but this is obviously not ideal.

@donovan575 What’s the url of your WordPress blog?

What’s the URL of your facebook application?

    When you say:

I cannot see anything when granting permission, and then also in the application now

Is that where you are seeing the white screen?

Have you changed your application api key for application id?

Have you changed the advanced settings in your Facebook application, advanced tab, to use the OAuth and POST for canvas?

You can revert to an early version of WPBook, of course, but you’ll need to change back the settings you’ve changed.

I see a white screen always when accessing the application if WP book is enabled, however before I did not. (When I upgraded before though on the previous version I did lose the ability to bypass what WPBook’s changes the canvas page to be (which I would like to again also, but to switch back and forth like before as I still am not sure which way to go), but I could still see my posts and such inside the application just in WPBook’s way, now I can’t see anything)

I’ve enabled WP book for now so you can see what I mean. I Changed my API key to application ID, and I changed the advanced settings exactly enabling what was in the picture (however my settings did have a lot more options then your image did, though I left those disables – do I need to upgrade my APP or something maybe?)

I will try to disable some plugins now, however they all were on before and worked to display WP books canvas page…I will also put a post through now to see if its still sending to the wall and page.

Looking at the iframe info in Firefox, it looks like your server is returning an HTTP status of 500 – internal server error – when called inside Facebook.

Just trying to load http://www.greenstudiohostel.com/?fb_sig_in_iframe=1 or http://www.greenstudiohostel.com/?signed_request=1 – either of which should trigger WPBook to appear – fails as well.

What hosting environment are you on? What version of PHP?

Do you have access to the error logs on the server?

What did you previously do to:

bypass what WPBook’s changes the canvas page to be

    How did you bypass it?

In the end its not as important I guess as it just being able to authorize and post to wall/page, as I’ve been intending to use the whole site itself as the application, and now that tabs allow iframe and more, just using the page also in the iframe, using some other WP plugins to resize the page for mobile/smaller pages and custom the look…though if I can get Wp Book working I might use what it uses for the canvas now as it has more options in it then before. The main problem why I never thought to use it, is as you see, I’ve switched comments off and am just completely using facebook comments, which do not display then if WP book is used as the canvas page, then thus defeats the purpose of even using an application with my site/facebook now.

Both go to server errors. I’m not sure which PHP, but it is 5.0 or higher as I called them to asked to update it in order to use some other plugin. What does WP book require now? To be honest I’m not sure what I did to bypass it…I either just left the application canvas page to nothing inside the WP book settings in wordpress, or turned something on in the application page, and it just overrided it and used my page as the canvas. Though when I upgraded it (not this version, your newset one in the wordpress diretories), it kept going to WP books version, even if I changed the application canvas page in WP books settings to something else.

I did have an installation fail first time I installed this beta version…then uninstalled the old version, an reinstalled this one…maybe something went wrong with the install? I’ll uninstall and go in and wipe any plugin diretories….

wiped it, re-installed, nothing, disabled all plugins nothing, posted something to facebook, didnt get sent

Don’t know what hosting environment I am, or know what it means, and dont know if i have access to the logs – i do have a logs folder with something in it, 47 mbs, downloading it now…never had to use those things before so havent learned the info on it.

Thats the what the file in the log reads for the 10 minutes before you responded….dont know if that helps.

In that logs folder, see if you have an error.log, and if it has some explanation of why the server is returning error 500.

After you reinstalled, did you change your API Key to App ID and double check the settings on the FB application?

Until we can see what errors are being thrown there’s really no other troubleshooting I can do.

    Thread Starter donovan575

    (@donovan575)

Yes I’ve put them in again, and set the application settings all too what the original documentation says, and made the changes the beta version requested. Found my error log – it stops on February 12th though, nothing after that.
