I’m getting the same error after having just installed for the first time. Would be interested in what you find out.
I am getting the same thing. Tried twice and carefully followed the WP lite documentation. We must be missing something…
I’m attempting to set up cross posting to my FB page (not profile) I’m also receiving error message:
Caught exception in publish to page (#200) This API call requires a valid app_id. Error code: 0
I checked the page settings as shown in comparison to your example from a previous resolved post. No access token info appears after:
<You’ve indicated you wish to publish to this page: XXXXXXXX>
There is one after the profile info, but not the page number.
I have regenerated tokens several times but one never appears for the FB page I wish to connect my blog to. How can I fix this?
OK, I have searched for this error and everything I have read indicates that “This error either means no access_token has been set, or the access_token which has been set is not valid for the profile/page/group type to which the user is trying to post. “
Fine, except I do have an access token and to test it the documentation mentions a check permissions link that I can’t find anywhere.
So far the only thing that works is that when I go to the app canvas it shows the blog page. Posting on the blog throws an error and posting on the FB group does nothing on the blog. I have to be missing something.

I tried reinstalling everything including creating a new Facebook App and … NO SUCCESS!!! :/
This is ULTRA annoying.
Or the thing works or doesn’t. Would be nice to know it.

My gut feeling is that this error is due to a recent change to the Facebook API, but I really don’t know if that’s actually the case or not. I’ve tried everything I can think of to get it to work.
Any thoughts on how we might be able to fix this, John?

Man I am disappointed as well. I was using this awesome plugin until these recent changes which made me spend a few days on top of this :/
I just re-installed the previous version of this plugin and it works. I don’t know what is up with the latest version but the previous one works.

I just followed your lead and tried that too and while I can now get it posting to my wall just fine, I can’t get it to post to my group.
Here’s the error message I’m getting now:
Caught exception in publish to group An unexpected error has occurred. Please retry your request later. Error code: 0
Grrrr. So close, but yet so far. 🙁
Don’t know what to try now.
Has anyone here got this plugin to successfully post to their group?

Out of curiosity I tested back to version 1.2.1 to see if it made any difference.

Almost ready to give up on this plugin. Could I be missing something simple???
Okay. Found a resolution. Changed group from ‘private’ to ‘closed’ and now I’m able to post to the group wall. Hallelujah!
@jtdownunder – glad to hear you found resolution. That’s a Facebook limitation for sure.
@demaier – which version is working for you?
@m1nate – the error you are seeing can be caused by a variety of misconfigurations.
What are you trying to publish to – is it a page, a group, or a profile? Is the FB account you are using to publish to that page/group/profile authorized to post to it?
When you click on the “Generate Access Token” inside WordPress, on the WPBook Lite settings page, do you get a success message?
Also, is your domain configured correctly in your Facebook application, to match the domain of your blog precisely?
@sweethreads Can you try posting to your own profile wall first? Trying to see if the issue is with permissions for fan page posting. Does your fanpage allow people to post on it’s wall?

Thanks for the information! I am posting (I hope) to a FB group. The group was created to test this with and I am the admin. When I generate the access token I get a success message above my WP page (I assume via the canvas in FB). For domain do you mean the app domain field in the basic app settings or the website site url? I did not set the app domain. I will try that right now.

Setting the domain name had no effect. I just tried changing my group from “Secret” to “closed” to see if that would help. No joy. I get nothing in either direction Facebook to WP does nothing, WP posting generate the exception error 0 message.

@m1nate – are you using WPBook Lite 1.2.5, and have generated the access token after the update?
I’m not sure what restrictions FB places on secret / closed FB groups – I think you should be able to post to them, but I can’t be sure if they are somehow restricted.
Hi @johneckman I am using version 1.2.3 with WordPress 3.3.1.
It worked for personal profile and also for page.
I am using my Facebook page as public.
