[Resolved] [Plugin: WP to Twitter] Problem when publishing previously private posts

  • Hi, I’ve been using your plugin but I noticed a rather annoying problem. When you have a post published privately and then decide to make it public, the WP to twitter plugin doesn’t make a tweet.

I often make my posts private at first until I get all the formatting right and then publish it publicly so I would appreciate if this were fixed.

    Thanks

I’ll certainly give this consideration. I’ve always elected not to do publish to publish transitions, since technically “private” posts are already published, just restricted access. It may be that I’ll add an option down the line to enable that option — I don’t, however, want to create a situation where somebody accidentally shifting a private post into publish sends a Tweet.

Okay well at least it isn’t a bug…

I’m glad to hear you are considering adding it as an option but don’t you think that accidentally sending a tweet by editing happens a lot more frequently?

I appreciate the plugin and thanks for taking the time to reply,
    Thanks

Yes, that’s why it’s possible to disable Tweeting on editing. I think actually the scenario of wanting to do work while in Private status then shift to Publish is relatively rare; most people I know (including myself) work as Draft, then Publish.

Oh draft… That would work, I guess I was just using WordPress wrong up until now!

Eh, I don’t think there is a ‘wrong’ — just unusual!
