    Yes, it should. That requires configuration in your bit.ly account.

    I’m getting errors when using bit.ly. I’ve entered the Bitly API and username correctly, and the test tweet uses bitly correctly, but then an actual tweet doesn’t get shortened and I get an error message about it (“The query to the URL shortener API failed, and your URL was not shrunk. The full post URL was attached to your Tweet. Check with your URL shortening provider to see if there are any known issues.”).

    Today, two tweets actually did properly use bitly to shorten the links but then the latest tweet didn’t get shortened. Is this a bitly issue or is there something else I should be doing besides inputting the API key and username?

    I’ve encountered occasions a few times where bit.ly failed to process links; but I’ve never tracked down explicitly what was happening. I have not found the bit.ly API to be as reliable as I would wish or expect, however, in general.
