Support » Plugin: WP-Table Reloaded » [Plugin: WP-Table Reloaded] Error messages and images not appearing

  • I’ve recently updated WP to 3.1 and just downloaded your WP Table Reloaded plugin 1.9. I activated the plugin and started making a table. The table is to include 5 rows and 2 columns, with an image in the first column and text in the second. When I insert an image, first I am greeted with this error message:

Warning: imagecreatetruecolor() [function.imagecreatetruecolor]: Invalid image dimensions in /home/burke/public_html/wp-includes/media.php on line 1006

Warning: imagecopyresampled(): supplied argument is not a valid Image resource in /home/burke/public_html/wp-includes/media.php on line 424

Warning: imagegif(): supplied argument is not a valid Image resource in /home/burke/public_html/wp-includes/media.php on line 447

Warning: imagecreatetruecolor() [function.imagecreatetruecolor]: Invalid image dimensions in /home/burke/public_html/wp-includes/media.php on line 1006

Warning: imagecopyresampled(): supplied argument is not a valid Image resource in /home/burke/public_html/wp-includes/media.php on line 424

Warning: imagegif(): supplied argument is not a valid Image resource in /home/burke/public_html/wp-includes/media.php on line 447″

Then when I chose an image either from my computer or the gallery and hit “Insert into Post” the box goes white and doesn’t do anything, I must hit the “X” on the top of the box to get out. And of course no image has been inserted into the table cell.

I’ve tried this at least 4 separate times, choosing from either my computer or the gallery, and receive the same result.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi,

    thanks for your question.

This problem is however not related to WP-Table Reloaded, but to WordPress and your server setup.
It sounds as if the PHP library for image processing is not installed or broken on your server.

To confirm this, can you please try inserting/uploading an image into a regular WordPress post? If my assumption is correct, you should get the same errors there.
If that happens, I suggest to contact your webhost company to have them check the PHP image library settings.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Tobias, thank you for your reply.

When I was unable to got the WP Table Reloaded plugin to work properly (ie., producing numerous warning messages when inserting an image and freezing after I have chosen the image), I again inserted a table with images and text as needed. Please see http://burke-electric-inc.com/services/. I did not receive the error messages when choosing an image nor did anything freeze when I inserted the image into the table on the page. It doesn’t appear to be the PHP library because I was able to insert images without issue.

Unfortunately, that table is still not working out correctly, which is why the WP Table Reloaded plugin was originally suggested to me.

I still have to sort this out, so any additional feedback you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your continued attention to this issue. It is greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

    thanks for the further details.

After looking at your error messages again, I believe that your server does not contain a proper image manipulation library, which WordPress (or the PHP code) uses to do some work on images that a user uploads, like cropping, thumbnail generation, resizing and so on.
This is a process that is performed on every upload in the WordPress Media Library, and as WP-Table Reloaded uses that media library for the image insertion feature, you will also suffer from those problems there.

Now, if you take a look at your error messages, you will see that they all occur in the WordPress PHP file “wp-includes/media.php”. From my experience they originate from the same common problem (i.e. if one function fails, the following ones will likely fail as well, as they are dependent on the results of the first function).
After looking the PHP documentation (http://de2.php.net/imagecreatetruecolor) for the first functions, I found out that most of them belong to the PHP library “GD” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GD_Graphics_Library).
So, my assumption is that either that library is missing on your server or misbehaving, or that an image that you uploaded is somehow corrupted.

This would also mean that you will get similar errors, when trying to upload and insert an image into a post (but maybe only for certain image formats), so if possible please try that to confirm. (Now, on your site, you already have images inserted, as I can see, so somehow this error seems to occur consistently, which makes it even hard to debug…)

To resolve this issue, I suggest that you ask your webhost if your server is running a rather new version of PHP (at least PHP 5.2), and if that GD library is installed.

Unfortunately, I have never worked with the PHP functions of that library, and they are not used at all in WP-Table Reloaded, so I don’t really know how to help any further 🙁

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
