 * Hello,
I’ve been told by the customer service of hostgator to try this plugin
in order to make my page faster (they say there’s nothing wrong on their end).
I only have occasional slowdowns but its still annoying. Anyway I have 4 questions
before I can decide whether to use this and two have to do with the static aspect.
Please understand that I have an affiliate blog so I’m not sure the “static”
is in my best interest. Here’s the questions:
 * 1.Will a static site cause Google and its bots to behave differently towards
my site? From what I know the advantage of a wordpress blog
    lies in the fact
that its dynamic so that google crawls the site a lot. So will the crawlability
of my blog be impacted by supercache? When I update a blog post, will that still
send the pings out and receive the usual google love?
 * 2.I have a few amazon banners on my sidebars. At least one of them is dynamic
aka it uploads frequently for deals. Will these still
    work and show updated
   when using supercache?
 * 3.The read me say there’s maybe a problem with sites having the category/postname
structure. Well, under “permalinks” i have it set
    as just “/%postname%”. But
I also know that when I load categories the permalink looks like this “category/
postname”. (I believe this comes from an SEO plug in) So will I have a problem?
 * 4.How do I know if the “Apache mod mime and mod rewrite modules” are installed?
 * Ok, I would greatly appreciate any feedback on this as soon as possible. I really
need to get my site to load faster. Thanks,
    Dennis

 * Ignore 4, I just talked to hostgator customer service and they told me its installed
on their server. [Duh, why else would they recommend supercache to me? ;-)]

 * 1. No, no, yes.
    2. Yes if they load via Javascript. 3. Probably won’t be a problem.

 * Thnks for the fast reply, donncha!
I have just enabled the caching and banners
and the like seem to be doing just fine. However I’ve noticed that the first
loading of a single page takes longer now than before. After that however re-
loading the same page is very fast. Is this normal? Does this mean every user
will at first encounter a slow loading?

 * That’s not normal, but maybe your server is either very underpowered or on a (
very) slow disk that takes time to write the cache file. Normally that isn’t
   noticeable at all.
 * That slow down will only show when a page is first cached so it shouldn’t happen
   too often.

 * I doubt there’s an error on my servers side because like I said they actually
recommended supercache to me plus when they checked they assured me the server
   has been working just fine.
 * So if I go through the trouble and load every single page on my end that means
it will then have cached versions of them – and these will subsequently be served
to my visitors, right? If it takes a while for every page while I first cache
them oh well – main thing is my visitors get fast loading times after that.

 * Well, judging from the time stamp in the page source super cache is working.
However, the loading time is still pretty long, also when I test it with pingdom.
The cached page usually doesn’t load faster than 10 seconds – clearly thats lame,
right? I’m suspecting that maybe my plethora of images are to blame for that,
especially as they’re placed as links and not link to the images themselves…?
 * Could you guys do me a favor and check if my site loads fast for you? Its [http://www.usbmemorysticks.net](http://www.usbmemorysticks.net).
   Thanks!
 * Btw, do I understand it correctly that once every hour (3600 sec) each page has
a new cache of itself generated, causing a slow loading for that time? Why would
   that be necessary?

 * I also just tried switching compression on & off. It doesn’t make a difference.
   I’m quite baffled…
 * Maybe there’s a conflict with a plugin? Heck, maybe one is causing the slow loading
in the first place….these are the ones I have installed:
