• Hey, iabookman. I found it a bit confusing at first, too. As far as I can tell, the choices are either pre-made templates or elements of other share systems arranged in a way that suits your needs. The “share and enjoy” bit is something from Sociable, I think (I used Sociable for WordPress 3.0 until switching to WP Socializer recently). If you were to install that plugin separately, you could edit the text. I’m not sure you can do that here.

In any case, you can click on “Placement” in the left hand column and add the elements you see there, then click “Update.” I use Template 1 (tab showing above the Placement screen) for buttons above content and Template 2 for buttons below content (managed using the check boxes on the Placement tab).

For those buttons where you can’t choose the type / graphic right from the Placement screen, you can go to their individual listings on the left. I inserted the Retweet button, for example, but to choose the type – Twitter official button vs. Tweetmeme – I went to the “Retweet & Digg” tab on the left, chose the one I wanted, then clicked Update.

(I believe if you then go back to a pre-made, it overrides your manual settings, but couldn’t swear to it.)

Does that help at all?

Cheers,
Katrina 🙂

1. Go to the WP Socializer settings page.
2. Click on the Placement tab (along left side of settings).
3. Click on the “Template 2” tab (along the top – NOTE: by default you will be looking at “Template 1” tab).
4. Clear out the code you see which will look something like this:

Share & Enjoy

{social-bts-16px}
5. Click the blue “Update” button.

This puzzled me forever. It really is a bewildering interface…but it seems like a really good plugin otherwise. The guy that wrote is lightyears more intelligent than me!

I hope this helps.

@webdunce @iabookman Hello, I am the author of the plugin.

I tried my level best to offer a good customizable Social buttons plugin (other plugins gave a fixed way, so those are easy) and finally came up with this.

I hear that the interface is pretty tough for beginners.

In the next version, the entire UI is tweaked and it is aimed at both pro and beginners. It really looks cool and I my self really like it.

Ill try to release the beta version if possible.

Thank you.

Hi Aakash,

That sounds great! Even though the interface is a bit confusing, I think your plugin is really good. It does exactly what I want it to do. I tried several social plugins and settled on yours.

I look forward to seeing the next version.

Cheers,
–Will
