Unfortunately there is no documentation on how to set up your RSS feed. Thus keeps most who want to use a RSS for content on there site, out of reach.

    Hi Caps,

The usage is pretty plain and simple, and documented in the readme.txt...

    1. Upload wp-simple-rss-feed-reader.php to your /wp-content/plugins folder
    2. Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress
    3. Use the shorttag in your posts or pages: for example:
    [simple-rss feed="http://www.yourfeed.com/myfeed.xml"]
    4. Use the widget from the widget menu in the WordPress admin pages

You have assume that the post has a "xml" file format. You do not explain why this as being a part of the URL.

I would be glad to help explain this at talkingmanuals.com but I am still confused and do not understand why the docs do not address pointing to a xml file format.

    Thank you for your response,

    Caps

The plugin is just a simple tool to view rss feeds (rss2, atom etc) in a html format.

So the plugin expects an xml (rss) feed in a standard format. for example:

    http://www.nu.nl/deeplink_rss2/index.jsp?r=Algemeen

    becomes:

    http://www.twitt.nl/viewfeed/

Does this explanes it? Any questions are welcome!

    Hi viancen,

It is still unclear how you get from here:

    http://www.nu.nl/deeplink_rss2/index.jsp?r=Algemeen

    to here: http://www.twitt.nl/viewfeed/
    Where is the XML file?

The talking manuals site is for non coders to understand technology. The docs nor does your example explain how can a post become an xml file. Without this understanding the WP admin (if not savvy on how RSS works) would be lost trying to install your plugin as I am.

    Hi Caps,

So.. maybe it would be wise to check out what rss is exactly ;)

When you have a feed containing articles that are published by some website (any website, or wordpress website), my plugin forms the xml (rss) format into a html view.

So the plugin reads a xml (rss formatted) file or output of some website like the nu.nl feed, into a datastructure and produce html from there.

A post does not become a xml file with my plugin, it works backwards.

    Hi

"So the plugin expects an xml (rss) feed in a standard format. for example:

    http://www.nu.nl/deeplink_rss2/index.jsp?r=Algemeen

    becomes:

    http://www.twitt.nl/viewfeed/"

Again, where is the XMl file?

I think the instructions should state what you have written.

The description for the plugin sounds like it will read a post within your WP install. That is what through me off.

I hope this feedback is helpful in providing access to the non coder to your great work.

    Kind regards,

    Caps
