When I installed it initially the plugin worked and delivered data to Piwik.

I am only monitoring a single site.

Of course, I had to go and screw around ... and then added SSL certificate to my subdomain from where I run Piwik - which then promtly broke it in WordPress.

I kept getting the "error occurred" message in the plugin settings dialog and no Piwik js was being produced in the pages anymore.

I have deleted the wp_pwik entries in the options table, deleted and reinstalled the plugin - and out of desperation even deleted and redid the install of Pwik.

It still gives the same error message and will not produce a tracking code.

If I add the Piwik js to my footer, the tracking works perfectly.

I used http://YOUR_PIWIK_URL/index.php?module=API&method=SitesManager.getSitesIdWithAtLeastViewAccess&format=Html&token_auth=YOUR_AUTH_TOKEN and it returns "value 1"

What else can I try to make it work? Any ideas please?

If the problem occured after adding the SSL certificate, have a look at this thread: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wp-piwik-https-ssl-support?replies=3
