    Hello,

    Ok I checked those settings and enabled ajax. Only after you click on a gallery, and then click next does a image name show up in the url.

    http://bakersfieldflowermarket.com/?wppa-album=2&wppa-occur=1&wppa-photo=aqua.jpg

    http://bakersfieldflowermarket.com/?wppa-album=2&wppa-cover=0&wppa-occur=1

    What I was hoping to achieve was something like:

    http://bakersfieldflowermarket.com/gallerys/2/gerbera_daisys/3/aqua_gerbera_daisy/

    Where 2 is the gallery id and 3 is the photo id. But still having the descriptive text there for the search engines.

    Is that possible?

    Thanks
    -Noah

    No. But there is still another SEO feature: mark photos as featured, and give them a descriptive name ( aname you would enter in a search engine ). The will appear in meta tags in the header of the page.

    Hi,

    I agree with Noah, a SEO friendly permalink would be really good. For this reason alone I would have to abandoned this plugin, otherwise I do like the setup and control cover all the features.

    @red_man87:

    Did you try my system of featuring photos and the meta tags they generate?

    For instance, google on ‘Mallard Duck in automn gold (F)’

    You will get something like this on the top of the list:

    Jules Gobeil – Portfolio

    Is that not SEO friendly enough?

    Hi opajaap,

    I tired the search string that you provided but I didn’t get those results in google, but then again Google presents results depending on the geographical locations as well.

    I haven’t tired the tagging feature, but I did look over it briefly. I would prefer that the URL of the pictures wasn’t so ugly with & ? numbers and wppa. It would be much more pleasing if the URL produced was something similar to what NextGen gallery does, e.g. http://www.yoursite.com/yourpage/slug/picturename. Is there a way to let the user define what the URL of a picture would look like? That would be an excellent addition to your already great plugin.

    I do like a lot of the features that you have in your plugin, especially how customizable it is.

    it cannot be don from htaccess for a single album ? as I can see, the album and occur values are the same, every time, only the picture name is changing.

    There are 2 SEO systems active in wppa+ currently, which i could make configurable (on/off).
    One is: if a photo comes in the current page display and has status Featured, a meta tag is made with the link to the picture in the page it appears.
    Two is: if a featured photo does not appear in the current page, a meta tag is placed with a link to the plain photofile.

    I hasitate to make a permalink structure as you describe above for the following reasons:
    1. We want a SEO friendly system rather than a HUMANBEING friendly system. The first non-hello line in this thread is: How can I configure the permalinks to be more search engine friendly?
    2. To prevent conflicts with themes and other plugins. WP-supercache for instance does not allow you to have default permalinks. WPPA+ should work always, independant of permalink structures so i want to avoid any prescriptions to permalinks for wppa+. Even &album= and &slide= caused problems in the past (a theme uses &album= for cd records what caused serious conflicts. Therefor even &album= is now &wppa-album= ).

    You definitely are a “defensive driver” opajaap! Great job on ensuring the WPPA plugin stays clear of others!

    @mtibesar:
    Yes, but it is also in my own interest to avoid conflicts as much as possible. (in terms of avoiding unnesessary support issues).

    A great gallery system to be sure. I’m sure a tremendous amount of work went into WPPA. Personally, I’m not so interested in pretty permalinks, but rather getting images indexed at all. I did learn from above about setting the featured flag.

    I use a sitemap generator, and allows to add both categories and tags to the sitemap. I enabled the tagging function in WPPA, but the tags here seem to be a different animal.

    So, I take it that the only option here is to set all photos to featured?

    The site is http://austinstereo.com

    Yes, that would be a good idea.

    If you check Table IX-A10: Meta all, keep track of the performance of the site. When you have over 1000 photos, you may notice your site slowing a bit dependant of the server speed.
