Is there a way to restrict which fields are displayed in 'Edit your information'?
I am building a site where users fill in some fields at registration which should be permanent and uneditable later on. (like place of birth). thx

There is no 'non-programatical' way to do that. However, any fields that are required, while they could be changed, can't be empty.

If you want to make code changes (which I don't necessarily recommend), the form for editing is generated by the same function as the registration form. It is in wp-members-dialogs.php, function wpmem_inc_registration. Note that the $toggle parameter for editing is 'edit' so you would need to differentiate between that and 'new'.
