PLEASE HELP!- I’m not a programmer in any way, shape or form. Just someone who’s really interested in understanding WordPress and I’m now tying myself up in knots.
What I’m trying to achieve is to restrict access to the blog page on my site to registered users. Everything else on my site can be public.
So, I downloaded wp-member and have managed to get through the installation using the PDF file. I thought I’d done everything successfully, however when I log out of the admin programme and go back to the front page of the site, I get “Error 404 Page not found”, on the left hand side of the screen. On the right hand side of the screen I get a login box. If i type the admin username and password into that box, then I do get the “normal” front page of the site, but if I then go to any of the menu items, I get the same “Error 404”.
I know that the pages are all there because I can see them in the admin programme, but i don’t know why it’s blocking me.
I’ve tried disabling the plugin and undoing the intallation, but even when I’ve tried to reset the site back to how it was before I started installing wp-members, when I go to the front screen, I still get Error 404.
