[Plugin: WP-Mail-SMTP] Admin forgot password can't send email

  • Hi,

Whenever I have the plugin WP-Mail-SMTP enabled, clicking the lost password link on the WP Admin login page gives the error:

“The e-mail could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function.”

But when I send a test email from the WP-Mail-SMTP settings page, it works fine and I get the email. Any idea why this might be happening?

If the plugin is disabled, the admin lost password link says it worked and I should check my email, but I never get an email.

I installed the plugin to use SMTP mail instead of PHP mail for my contact forms, but if WP can’t send PHP email then obviously the contact forms wont be able to either.

Any idea why neither one is working on the admin lost password link?

    Thanks1

  • This is happening now for me as well. Do you have any update on this? Is it still a problem? Just like JohnScott, it only fails for the forgot password email. The rest are fine.
