# [Plugin: WP-InstantBackup] FTP Settings invalid!

 * I’m probably doing something incredibly stupid, but I can’t get WP-instantBackup
   to work at all. When I put my FTP details in and press save, I get the following:“
   FTP Settings invalid!”
 * This is what I’m inputting:
 * Host: [http://ftp.mydomain.com](http://ftp.mydomain.com)
    User: [user@mydomain.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wp-instantbackup-ftp-settings-invalid/user@mydomain.com?output_format=md)
   Password: *******
 * I’ve tried dropping the “ftp” under host. I’ve tried using “+” instead of @ under
   user. I’ve double checked everything. Nothing is working.
 * I have FTP access all the time. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with my 
   server. Is this a permissions problem? Should the host path lead to a specific
   folder? Do I need to specify “public_html” and the like?
 * I’m lost! Help!

 * NOTE: WordPress.org just added http:// to the value of what I am inputting in
   the Host field. I’m just inputting ftp (dot) mydomain (dot) com

 * Hi immanence,
 * Is this your own web host or are you hosting your site with WordPress.org? If
   you want I can hop on MSN [or something](http://www.wp-instantbackup.com/) and
   help you get it working. 🙂
 * You shouldn’t need to specify public_html anywhere…for example here are my settings:
 * Host = backups.mydomain.com
    Username = [user@name.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wp-instantbackup-ftp-settings-invalid/user@name.com?output_format=md)
   Password = *******
 * Notice I don’t specify the http:// or ftp:// anywhere..just the hostname. Can
   you try the following for yours, without “ftp” anywhere?
 * Host: mydomain.com
    User: [user@mydomain.com](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wp-instantbackup-ftp-settings-invalid/user@mydomain.com?output_format=md)
   Password: *******
