[Plugin: WP Flexible Map] Embeding KML directly from Google maps

  • Hi, first of all this is a fantastic plugin and works really well.

The only issue I encountered was that I couldn’t use the KML file directly from Google maps (i.e by right clicking the link to the KML file and selecting Copy URL). Instead I had to download the .kml file and reference that instead.

Just an idea for development anyway. Keep up the good work!

G’day, interesting idea. I just looked at that briefly, and I suspect it won’t work because the KML file is generated from a location in your “My Saved Places”. However, I’ll have a play with it at some point soon, maybe it just needs some attribute massaging. Thanks for the idea, something to follow up!

    cheers,
    Ross

I think it’s something to do with the Google URL because if I shorten it using bitly is works! Something to do with it being https:// maybe?

Aha! Good find. Next time I build a release, I’ll have a play with this and add it to the FAQ. cheers, Ross
