[Plugin: WP-Filebase Download Manager] Custom field for post edit screen

I’d like to add a custom field to the post edit screen which would allow the user to select a file from WP-Filebase — essentially associating that file with the post, but without using shortcodes in the post body.

The custom field would, in this case, be a dropdown menu which takes its options from the filenames in the WP-Filebase table.

This custom field can then be used in a theme template to display a link to the associated file anywhere on the post webpage (or even in a widget), without the limitation of using shortcodes inside the post body.

Would anyone know if this is possible? And if so, how I might go about setting it up?
