Right now there’s not a real good way to handle that… it’ll look for an excerpt then pull body content.

In the nearish future I’m going to be integrating seo plugin’s info but it’s a crazy big step to get working right. For now just use an excerpt or let it pull the content but it’s definitely on my to do list when I have time.

    Thanks

Hi janolima in the newest versions of the plugin (2.0 and beyond), it will pull from an existing HTML meta description tag. Let me know if it’s working for you. Thanks!

Is there a way to set a “fallback description” for the index page? If i specify the og:description in the header.php file it will always use that. I want the index to have it’s own unique description and the other pages to pick it from the post.

Is there an easy way to do this? I’m stumped.

@warriortom not w/ the plugin. Use an seo plugin like yoasts or all in one seo if you want that type of control.

I think I found a way! In Administration > Settings > General, I had not filled out the “Tagline” field. Now that it’s filled out, the index page displays the og:description that I want and the posts display the og:description of their own. Yay.

ah right… yeah if there’s nothing thrown to the desc via filters it will look for that 🙂 *forgot/tired

That’s ok. I just got lucky. Your og plugin helped me tremendously. Thank you so much!
