Hi,
In theory, WP Biographia should run out of the box on a WordPress network/multi-site installation.
In practise I have to admit that this isn’t something I’ve tried or tested against.
From my understanding of the differences between (single site) WordPress and multi-site WordPress I can’t seen anything in the code that stands out as an issue. There may be a potential problem with the use of $wpdb
in the plugin, but even that defaults to the current blog, if not specified explicitly.
I’ll take a closer look at this, but due to work commitments it probably won’t be until mid next week I’m afraid.

Hi Gary,
Thank you for the quick response. I appreciate it! I’ll look forward to hearing what you discover. If there’s anything specific you’d like me to try implementing on my site or theme, I’m happy to do so.

So I’ve taken a deeper look at this and there’s no reason I can see why the plugin shouldn’t function in a network/multisite environment. The only issue in v2.4.4 may have been the use of the $wpdb
global to query for user information but in v3.0 that’s been replaced with the WP_User_Query
class instead, which is network/multisite aware.
Have you tried upgrading to v3.0 of the plugin to see if this is still an issue?

I haven’t gone to 3.0 yet – it’s on tap for this week… but I was able to get the plugin to work on multisite. Part of the problem was the method I was using to syndicate posts from the child blogs to the main site. I changed the syndication / post sync method and it’s all good now. Here’s an example (if you look at the post footer):

Thank you for following up!

That’s great to hear. Glad things got sorted for you. I’ll mark this as resolved but let me know if anything else crops up.

Perfect. Will do. Thanks, Gary!
