Support » Plugins and Hacks » [Plugin: WP-Addpub] Ad server slows page load time by 30 seconds

  • When visiting your plugin page, I had to wait over 30 seconds while bdv.bivertizer.com loaded its content. This is one typical problem that is a plague on ad serving, having to wait for external servers.

    IT would be very useful if someone would make a plugin that looked at page load to see if the ad server is delayed for ‘x’ seconds, if so defer the ad function till after wordpress page load.

    The logic is simple. you have more chance of serving an ad on a site that loads fast, even if the ad is loaded after the main content. Ad servers should never slow the site down.

  • Hi,

    if you have a jQuery loaded, you can edit your banner like this :

    <script type="text/javascript">
          jQuery(document).ready(function() {
             // put your bidvertiser code here (javascript)
          });
    </script>

    if you haven’t a jquery in the header, put the following line before the wp_head to load it :

    <?php wp_enqueue_script("jquery");?>

    Make sure that you have wp_head(); in the header.

    Let me know if it works. Your feedback is more than welcome.

    Cordially,
    Yassine

    Hi,
    I just downloaded and installed new version (VersiĆ³n 1.2.3) and found a little bug:
    When you add banner of HTML type, the system still checks for file upload errors. Since no file can be selected an error message is output and the banner is not added.

    Sure the author wants to take a look at it. Thanks for the plugin anyways!

    Mik
