# [Plugin: WordPress.com Stats] Won't get any results. API error

 * API is the one I got from WordPress.com. As many other people say, it’s not accepted.
   Tried another API (the one I use for Akismet) also doesn’t work.

 * I too have an error with WordPress.com stats which I have installed as instructed.
 * I registered and was emailed an API key, which I added where indicated.
 * I now have the following error:
    WordPress.com Stats needs attention: please 
   enter an API key or disable the plugin.
 * It has an API key installed. I have also tried to change the API key but am unable
   to as the link in the admin panel will not allow it.
 * I have checked my theme has the footer tag included and it does.
 * Can any body shed any light on this please??

    If you
   rollback to 1.7.5 does the error disappear?
