Support » Plugin: Stats » [Plugin: Stats] False Stats Generated When "Admin WP" Open In New Tab

  • I usually work with the Admin screen in one browser tab and my website in another tab (with “Site Admin” and “Log out” links at the top because I’m logged in to Admin)

I just discovered that ALL of the clicks I make in my website tab are counted by Dashboard Stats as unique VISITS!!!!

THIS IS VERY BAD and makes, for anyone doing what I’m doing, Stats completely inaccurate and useless.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIX THIS GLITCH. If I’m logged in, it shouldn’t be counting my clicks in the website tab.

Thank you and Happy New Years.

Check the stats plugin’s options page. There is an option to stop counting your views when logged in. What’s that set to?

There is no options page option. The only “variables” are to edit the php page, which I have never touched and don’t know how to do anyways.

I was in despair and angry when I discovered this problem. EVERY time that I check to see that my posts are correct, another visit is recorded. This has greatly altered my actual stats.

Just to make sure we’re on the same page, I’m using the Stats plugin.

You should find the options page at Plugins -> Stats in your Dashboard.

Once there, check to see if “Count the page views of registered users who are logged in” is checked or unchecked.

I am not ignorant. There are ONLY “EDIT” and “DEACTIVATE” options, there is NO “Options” or “Settings” selection. That’s what I said before. I am running the latest version 1.7.5.

It should be in a drop-down under “Plugins” in the sidebar to the left, not on the plugins list itself.

    Specifically, the URL would be:

    [your blog]/wp-admin/plugins.php?page=wpstats
