Error from last API Key attempt:

Bad site URL (hostname invalid or unsupported)

very boring. impossible to install in self-hosted (fully working) wp site – constantly returns the above error when i try to set it up with my wp api key.

If you post the site URL in question I can see if something might be done about it.

thank you very much. i should have specified: it’s locally hosted in a testing environment on my Mac, via MAMP. i know the WP installation’s correctly set-up bercause, aside from the Stats plugin, it’s all working fine (including Typekit plugins, etc.)

    so the url’s ‘localhost’!

That’s the problem. We don’t support ‘localhost’ as a blog URL.

The stats server needs to be able to contact the blog. If it’s not accessible over the internet, the plugin won’t work.

You might be able to hack around this limitation by editing your hosts file and changing the blog URL but the plugin will lose some functionality so we don’t support that.

ah – i see. ok, looks like i missed that in the info. on the plugin page?
thanks for taking the time to answer, anyway.
