The breadcrumb is set to display the “topic” hierarchical taxonomy. If you assign a deeper topic, like on the first one, you’ll get a longer breadcrumb…

    Thanks Joost.

Actually, there may be something wrong with my topics hierarchy. For instance, on the first post the topics on the ‘Edit Post’ page show up as follows:

    Amsterdam
    – Gourmet Etenswaren
    1e Constantijn Huygenstraat

Yet in the Categories section that last category is listed under parent ‘Winkelstraten.’

The breadcrumbs on the second example are displayed as:
Home | Amsterdam | Wijs & Zonen, Koffie en Thee

Yet these are the categories that I selected (and the way the show up on the Edit Post screen):

    Amsterdam
    – Eten en Drinken
    — Koffie/Theehuis
    – Winkelbuurten
    — Rosse Buurt (Wallen)
    – Winkelstraten
    — Zeedijk

Perhaps that’s just too much for a breadcrumbs line…

Well it picks the first one it finds (yeah that’s a bit weird, but there’s no real choice there yet), and then works its way up in the hierarchy.

Alright… if my visitors end up wandering all over Amsterdam I’ll just blame you 🙂

    Love the plugin!

Cool, glad to hear that! I’d love it if you could give it a 5 star rating 😉

    Consider it done!

How else does one visit Amsterdam than by wandering around it for days?

Well, with a tram? 🙂 I try to get in and out as soon as possible all the time 🙂

I agree; wandering around is the best way to see Amsterdam.

Breadcrumbs might just get stolen anyway, just like bikes.

That said… it would be great if one could somehow edit the breadcrumbs trail on a post-by-post basis. Ideally I’d love for a post like this to be under Amsterdam | Winkelstraten | Zeedijk, but it’s probably best to hand-code that at the end of the article.

Joost, can you address this for the SEO plugin (since breadcrumbs are now included in that): http://wordpress.org/support/topic/exclude-blog-page-from-breadcrumbs?replies=5#post-1761407

I tried to find the code to replace but it looks like you’ve changed it a bit since one of those solutions was suggested. Also, I don’t want to edit it manually and then it gets overwritten at the next upgrade.

    Thanks a lot!

I have same issue as @cliffpaulick

Front page is static, Blog is on separate “blog” page.
Breadcrumb to posts is OK as it includes …/blog/…
but straight up pages like “privacy-policy” or “about us” also end up with the …/blog/… (incorrectly) embedded in them.

Obviously I can turn-off the …/blog/… completely but I’d really like to point people in the right direction.

thanks for an otherwise awesome plug-in
