Yoast’s a flexible & powerful tool & I’m generally happy with it. But I have three or four rogue blog posts that completely ignore my images (for the thumbnails) and Meta tag settings for the description text when I try to share them on facebook. This is driving me crazy!
For these posts, the thumbnails don’t appear, even when the posts include images (plus, I specified a default image for those that don’t). Instead of displaying the description text I specified (I specified %%excerpt%% for posts and THEN tried manually entering the description text from the Edit Page screen to no avail), it shows the text from my (static) home page.
I took four screen shots of my attempts to share my blog posts on facebook. They’re at: <a href=”http://imgur.com/a/dDrX9
In “Subversive Tales for Spirited Kids” (http://elisabethparker.com/?p=769) the thumbnail image and descriptive text do not display at all.
In “Five Reasons Why Pension Reform Is A Terrible Idea” (http://elisabethparker.com/?p=588), The thumbnail image does not appear (since this post has no photos, my default image should appear … but it doesn’t), AND, instead of pulling description text from the post (or using the one I typed manually from the posts’ Edit screen), it shows the text from my static (non-blog) home page. I removed the home page text from my theme’s Appearance > Theme Options > General Options, but that hasn’t helped.
In “Apartment Living: Kid Wants Pets, Part 1.” (http://elisabethparker.com/?p=410) The thumbnail image and the
descriptive text appear correctly … as they do for most of the site.
