    Hi Yoast, I'm using

    WordPress version: 3.4.2
    WordPress SEO version:
    genesis child theme

    I did this:
    1. updated to new version,
    2. deactivated all other plugins,
    3. deactivated, updated and reactivated Yoast
    4. have since reactivated other plugins since this did not make a difference
    I expected the plugin to do this: continue creating sitemaps

    Instead it did this: no sitemaps as of 10/13 first time in webmaster tools

    I'm having trouble with the sitemap as of the the update to Version

    I'm on nginx but previous version worked. I'm checking with host about rewrites:

    rewrite ^/sitemap_index\.xml$ /index.php?sitemap=1 last;
    rewrite ^/([^/]+?)-sitemap([0-9]+)?\.xml$ /index.php?sitemap=$1&sitemap_n=$2 last;

    OK, rewrites in order but still no image sitemap - have posts, pages, categories, & events

    Same here...webmaster tools cannot read the sitemaps because site map_index.xml is no longer there.

    After doing my best to try and find the answer, I went with a Google sitemap plugin to correct the sitemap issues.

    Installed: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-xml-sitemaps-v3-for-qtranslate/

    I think Yoast SEO is more geared toward website content and not sitemap generation. Both are very difficult and huge projects to undertake. So I deactivated the XML Sitemap option in Yoast SEO and added the plugin above. It's working great now.
