First off, I LOVE Yoast’s WordPress SEO plugin. I’m successfully using it on a lot of client sites.

I recently transitioned one of my personal blogs to a new domain, and when I did, I took that opportunity to switch a couple old plugins out for WordPress SEO. Ever since I did, the sitemap functionality has not been working for me. The sitemap page shows up blank, but when you view source everything shows up. Is anyone else having this problem?

I was previously using Google XML Sitemap Generator on that site. Would it be some kind of conflict with the old plugin? I’m not having this problem on any of my other sites.

    Thanks

  • Ho Joost,

It is a blank page. My Multisite root is residing in the following domain – http://challenge.ronenbekerman.com

    And I have a sub-site at – http://challenge.ronenbekerman.com/citylife/

not sure if this sub domain structure is the key for this odd behavior.

your plugin is network activated and I set the parameters separately on the root and that sub-site and will do so on additional sub-sites too.

Thanks for the help on this 😉

On a few occasions, we’ve seen a blank /sitemap_index.xml from this plugin, but only after beginning the site in development, “hide from search engines” in WP provact settings.

Then, after UNhiding from search engines, we had to re-save the setting to USE the sitemap, and uncheck / recheck pinging of the four search engines.

I also think there might be some confusion out there, since most of the time on small sites people are used to using having the name of the file be sitemap.xml – and, we’re used to just one map.

I remember finally noticing that Yoast used a different name for the default sitemap – /sitemap_index.xml – so someone had to spend a while in Webmaster Tools deleting all the old maps and adding the new names for everywhere we’d changed to use this plugin.
